Eric Mangini asks, "How ya doin?" to folks at his press conference in Cleveland.
After realizing that Romeo Crenell is not Mr. Potato Head, while already aware of their team’s less than piss poor performance; the Cleveland Browns owner, Randy Lerner, decided to fire Crenell and hire former New York Jets head coach, Eric Mangini. After an impressive 10-6 season in 2007, which the Browns nearly made the playoffs, a 4-12 record in 2008 was more than a let-down. Cleveland fans deserve better, as do the players. Often confused for a black hole, Romeo Crenell lacked: discipline, motivation, emotion, and most of all… in the 2008 campaign he racked up the 2006 season total of losses –12. He had the talent to win, no doubt. Cleveland fans were disappointed yet again. To Crenell’s defense, there were a massive amount of injuries to Cleveland’s offensive and defensive starters — to go through four starting quarterbacks in a season is more than tumultuous. Mangini, however, brings some fire-power to a battered, bruised, and emotionally distraught team. Mangini was a former cornerbacks coach under Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots from 2000-2004 before being promoted to the defensive coordinator in 2005. In 2006, Eric Mangini became the head coach of the New York Jets and boasted a 23-25 record during his tenure with the team. After a learning experience in New York, Mangini looks to turn around a troubled franchise in Cleveland.
